the last two sundays have seen an old tradition resurrected - the post-church lunch with friends. this week, we had a potluck at alec & andy's house...
last week we tried out elenita's...i'm excited about the notion - it seems like sunday after church is always a little bit of a let down when you should be continuing the fellowship from church but everyone just goes home... now, we shall begin... the lunch bunch! or so greg dubbed us.
coincidentally, nick & i bought a new camera right before last week's lunch, so it got some good use.
pretty nice pictures, eh? i'm pleased. it's a canon sure shot, same as our last one, but it's a little heftier.
oh, and that first picture of our potluck - alec took that with his iphone.
our next sunday lunch will be march 11 at fuddrucker's - we're going to vote on the next location each time. rob & erica will have a little one week old by then (or older, depending on if erica goes to term or not...) so they will be taking a hiatus from the lunch bunch, but hopefully will soon rejoin with a baby boy to join the party. we had a conversation today at lunch about the ever-evolving fun friend groups and how it seems like they tend to mostly consist of childless people. so we then speculated on how rob & erica's social lives will change after having their firstborn. i'm curious to know as well. i'll keep you posted.

We do this as well. Sometimes with a larger group at a restaurant and others with just one family in a home. I think it's how Sunday's were meant to be.
ReplyDeletelunching with family or friends after church is a major childhood memory for me. sadly, we have not established said routine as a married couple. we talk about it a lot, but have yet to follow through on a regular basis. this post is motivation for me to take a better crack at it. Sunday fellowship is priceless.
ReplyDeletethat is a GREAT picture of you with Nick. It really captures your beauty well!
i'm glad to hear that, dawn, because i was partially concerned that this was just something people without kids do, and if nick & i ever do get a family going, we'll have to leave this fun tradition behind. it's nice to hear from someone who makes it work with families also.
ReplyDeleteamy, if you want to take a crack at it with us, you guys are more than welcome! granted, it's a different fellowship from your church family, but we're still a family, of sorts... from a different sphere, anyways. march 11 it's fuddrucker's at 12:30 - come on, if you want! and thanks for the compliment :-) you're so sweet.
Your hair looks so pretty with that swoop. :) I agree, it's a great picture of you two.
ReplyDeleteNever fear...we will return to the lunch bunch with our little addition as soon as we can!
