a treadmill run

mile 1: (6.1 mph)
totally disjointed, flailing, out of rhythm, out of sync, body missed the memo that said, 'we're going for a run'.

mile 2: (6.2 mph)
getting in a rhythm, finding the groove, feeling energy, feeling GOOD! legs swinging with bounce, arms pumping, feeling like this is fun!

mile 3: (6.3 mph)
getting just a tad bored... need a challenge, speed up, start focusing on the end...

mile 4: (6.4 mph)
definitely starting to feel a little fatigued, focus on the challenge, speed up, go harder, push through the side ache, breathe deep.

mile 5: (6.5-6.7 mph)
instead of focusing on the countdown to the end, create a new challenge, sprint sets! last energy all focused on finishing as strong as possible with speed and determination!

and... done! walking with hands on hips, breathing deep, feeling accomplished and invigorated.

new resolution:
i will achieve a 9 minute mile pace (6.6) for an entire 5 mile run.
that's unheard of for me! i've never run that fast for that long before in my life!
but you all are my witnesses to this pledge, i will do it.
