ann-victoria hosted the event and did a lovely job of it...we started out the evening with sooo much tasty food. that was the beginning of a several day stuffed feeling that never really went away. we had pulled pork sandwiches, potato casserole and cheesy cream corn followed by cheesecake and 8 billion flavor cake (man, oh man, was that good!) all of that was preceded by appetizers and chocolates - i just kept enjoying the food all weekend long... i may not recover.
then we had a white elephant gift exchange. the kind where you bring GOOD gifts, not junk or jokes. i was pleased to be able to steal this super cute apron. a girl can never have too many aprons, right? i don't know what my face is trying to say. just look at the cute apron.
then we convened in the den for a classic christmas movie - white christmas.
i must confess i slept through it. but it was nice having the cozy feeling of sleeping through a classic well-loved movie. my favorite part about the weekend was waking up in the den after sleeping on the floor for three hours and joining in the late night conversation the girls were having. we talked until 3 a.m. then finally found our beds & did some slumbering.
i wasn't the only one eating all weekend long... i think we all went a little food crazy. in the morning we had biscuits & gravy & scrambled eggs - i was still full from the night before but i soldiered on and ate my fair share.
this meal always makes me think of how my dad eats it - a layer of biscuits, then a layer of gravy, eggs, gravy & topped off with the final layer of apple sauce. and to be honest, they're mighty tasty flavors all together. give it a try sometime!after breakfast we opened our stockings together & revelled in the cute, creative, thoughtful doo-dads we all came up with.
here's our traditional timer shot, but involving the creative hand-sewn flower gloves from ann-victoria and the finger puppets from marcia.p.s. due to a temporary misplacement of my camera, these pictures are all compliments of erica marshall and her photographic skills. i'm hoping my camera's in my classroom, otherwise i'm going to be one sad goose!
